Equipment - a single blade cutting surface minimises irritation. You are not repeatedly dragging multiple blades across your face.
Technique - In multiple blade razors, the blades lift the skin and cut the hair below the skin and can create many problems, bumps and ingrown hairs.
Make the change, and your skin will shower you with gratitude.
#2 It’s cost effective.
Although your initial cost might seem higher than a cartridge or disposable shaver, the cost of wet shaving is considerably less.
You can “shave” lots of money off your budget with wet shaving compared to the exorbitant prices of cartridge razors.
Don't be pennywise pound foolish, save them penny's for a rainy day!
#3 It’s traditional.
A traditional shave, a return to simpler times. Going back to basics.
It is a routine that is rewarding and joins you with many generations that have come before and something you can pass to the next generation as well.
A homage to your elders. A snapshot of history that's still badass and cool!
#4 It’s time for yourself.
A traditional wet shave can provide you with some well deserved quiet time, where you can block out the rest of the world and just focus on you. This time can be used to reflect, be mindful or just to enjoy the experience.
This shave is taking something that most people consider a chore, and is turning it into “me” time.
Me time is the moments when you press pause and make time for yourself!
#5 It’s saving the planet.
Wet Shaving is a better environmentally sustainable practice than cartridge/disposable razors.
Billions of disposable razors (this includes cartridges) end up in landfills every year. This is an enormous amount of waste, and it does not take into account all the shaving foam and packaging that is thrown away, as well.
Soaps and creams last for months and often come with reusable containers with refills. There is less to throw away and much of what you 'throw away' is biodegradable. Even the steel blades can be recycled.
A lot of small acts equal a big impact. We all have a part to play.

Yaqi Hero Metal with Timberwolf Knot – Personal Thoughts
This brush genuinely surprised me. I picked up the Yaqi Hero mostly because I liked the look, that metal handle is just clean and solid but it ended up being one of my favourite parts of my shaving setup.
I picked up the Merkur 34C as my first safety razor, and honestly, I couldn’t have chosen better. The build feels solid and balanced in the hand, with just enough weight to let the razor do the work without pressing. I was nervous switching from cartridges, but the 34C gave me a smooth, irritation-free shave right from the start. The grip is excellent, even with wet hands, and the short handle actually gives me more control than I expected. It’s not overly aggressive, which I appreciate since I shave almost daily, Overall I think it’s a great razor.
New Skeermes and new blade gave me a barber shop feel - was really great and loved the gun metal look. The whole process was great and stoked to have a dedicated skeermes shop!

I recently purchased a black and silver elite edge straight razor. The razor is well finished and sleek. It’s easy to operate. The delivery was received within 4 days of placing the order.
I’m content and grateful. Thank you for the quick responses via WhatsApp that assisted in closing on my decision.
This is an excellent shaving mug. Best to fill it with hot water to allow the ceramic to heat up, which then results in a warm luxurious lather. It is a heavy mug, but the handle makes it easy to grip.
I don't know about you, but I'm not keen on sticking my hand into my toiletry bag and hoping it doesn't find the business end of my razor. I'm also not keen on my blade being blunted by contact with other items in the bag. This solves both problems in one, and looks good too.
I realise these are the most expensive blades available on this site, but when you do the math they're actually cheap. More importantly, they are excellent. I was using another brand, but I could see and feel the difference the moment I popped one of these into my razor. It's the closest shave I've ever had, and I've used the same blade at least five times - it's still sharp. I was so impressed with the first pack I bought that I immediately ordered two more packs.
One of the best value products on this site. The tin is twice as large as expected.
The soap is easy to lather into any consistency you prefer from soapy to foamy.
Best of all the shea-butter... as cheesy as it sounds has a calming effect on razor rash
